AutoEntry extracts from day one, then remembers coding supplier by supplier as your team confirms it, and you switch on auto-publishing one supplier at a time. tofu learns from your ledger history when you connect, so it can code familiar suppliers from the first document.
Line Items and Bank Statements: Extra Credits vs. Included
AutoEntry charges a second credit for every invoice with line items, whether you switch them on per document, per supplier or for the whole company, and 3 credits per bank statement page. On tofu, an invoice counts as one extraction however many lines it has, and a statement page counts as one.
Language Support
AutoEntry calls itself an English-language program. It will try other Latin-script invoices when the layout is clear, without guaranteeing accuracy, but it rejects documents in Arabic, Chinese or Japanese scripts and usually rejects handwritten invoices. tofu reads 200+ languages, including handwriting, with English shown alongside the original.
Where AutoEntry Still Works
Being fair: AutoEntry has real strengths. It connects to more than a dozen ledgers, including Sage 50, Sage Accounting, Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent, and it has iOS and Android apps. Plans run month to month, unused credits roll over for 90 days, and you can pause or cancel any time.
Below about 300 documents a month, its smaller plans cost less than tofu's £79 plan. tofu publishes straight to Sage Accounting too, but for Sage 50 it prepares import files rather than posting directly. Both offer unlimited clients and users.

Each unique bill, invoice, or receipt that is extracted counts as one entry, regardless of the number of pages. A multi-page invoice is still one entry. Bank statements are counted as one entry per page.
