How two sisters turned an accounting firm into a partnership for their clients' dreams, with Tofu.
A firm built on a promise
Rushaan Financial Services began in 2005 with two sisters, no clients, and a decision to build something anyway. What held it together was a simple agreement about how they would work: as a team, whatever the outcome.
"In 2005, my sister and I decided to start a business. We had no clients but we said we're going to do this thing."

"Fail, succeed, doesn't matter. We do it together."

One played to her strength and ran the business; the other took on the parts that made it work behind the scenes. They knew each other's strengths and weaknesses, and they leaned on both.
The tunnel of data capturing
For years, the day to day looked the same. Sorting client slips and bank statements, capturing everything by hand, one transaction at a time.
"We are constantly stuck in this repetitive task that can become very frustrating."

The cost was not just time. It was what that time buried: valuable client information that never got used.
"The accountant sits with this valuable information and you're doing nothing with it. You're letting it die."

What changed with Tofu
Time, they say, is a rare commodity. Tofu gave some of it back. A single scan is now individualized and sent straight into the accounting system, turning a task that once took a minute or more into a matter of seconds.
"Tofu takes that one scan and it individualizes it and it goes into your accounting system. Whereas a transaction will take you a minute, minute and a half, it takes seconds."

That shift changed the nature of the work itself, from capturing after the fact to bookkeeping done live, alongside the client.
"Tofu is also now allowing us to do the bookkeeping work live where you are able to render more sophisticated financial reporting discussions with your clients."

From data capturers to partners
For the sisters, clients were never just accounts. The freed time let them step into the role they always wanted: partners in their clients' journeys.
"I always say our clients are our uncles, our aunts, our parents, our cousins. They are those people who have made the decision to follow their dreams."
Rushaan Financial Services, South Africa
"We were just walking through this data capturing tunnel hoping to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Tofu has now given us the opportunity to actually look at the big picture."

The result shows up in the smallest, most human moment of all.
"With my clients, we always walk away with big hugs."
